Beyond Their Traditions

I didn’t think it would end this way
It was a great ride to the doomsday
I had been here for sometime
Seen the walls and the customs worth a dime
Strong were those entrenched traditions
Driving them to the road to perdition
They could handle the communal dinner
Destroy their belief, you become a sinner
Adored standards, techniques, and even subject
Truth attempting change was met to object
They realized the roles they were born to fill
But in time forgot the essence of their will
I came here not to fit into reference
But wanted to make a difference
What would the future scholars see?
When they study all of me
I was ready to change myself
But to change for others, is to lie to yourself
I was no extraordinary man
Who live by example for a clan
Who would compel others to see
The world with new eyes and to be
The one who would find new walls to shatter
One who would give new ideas in the platter
They called me quitter for leaving
An aimless wanderer, who is deceiving
But not all who wander are aimless
Especially not the ones who seek truthfulness
Beyond those images and tradition
And beyond those texts and definition…

In Search Of Tranquility

I have put this off for far too long
Coursing and meandering
Amidst perplexing disturbing thoughts
Killing the joy of the merry song

Strange were those times with dread
Feeble and thimble like, so lean
I felt thin, sort of stretched
Like butter scraped over too much bread

Chasing the moon at the twilight
Running in circles and tagging tails
I was following every dream
And every need with delight

Torpid and sluggish, my soul listless
The scorching summer eating flesh
I groped the sound of the west
In search of the paean of idleness

Hearing the song of joy, far from brutality
Take it easy it went, bright and breezy
I was flying through lazy summers
In the arduous search of tranquility.
