There and Back Again
All their life they would want, to live life of peace and grace
Listen to their single heart, even when all heads talk
Which is why made up in brains, what lacked in pedigree
Brilliant were the histrionics, perplexing if u agree
The perfect likeness of a brooding mind, magna cum laude
Doing exactly as trained, uttering the words fresh spooned
I bet they would recite hymn, loud and clear in tone
Biding time until windfall, moments of silence alone
Right family, right school, right way of thinking
There were lots of labels, the fetters of progression
They all found a way, adjusting the inner-self
Indeed saving the effort, on thinking for yourself
Adept in balancing obligations, one would often hear
Performing my duty, I reclaim my place in home
Can baste the chicken with one, with the other outline the paper
Bearing those fruits, that bitter sweetness will in time taper
Alas! I see them smiling, but are they happy?
Everything is not what it seems, prima facie
There and back again, it probably would vacillate fast
The desire to live for future; the wish to carry on with the past.

Hi Girish,
Interesting title, I first thought it was about J R R Tolkien's The Hobbit, but this is something interesting. Although, to be honest, its too verbose and those words seem more like an academic rant than a melodic composition.
But I see you have been missing in action for a while now. Would have loved to read more of your writing.
Take care and God Bless!!
