Hope Floats

Take some rest here, you are tired
Escapades to the freedom of mind and heart
I walked, through the earth and gravity
Wearied was my soul as if mired

My father is a noble man, but his rule is failing
Long we have seen this, but for now
People losing faith and allegiance
Louder were those sounds of wailing

He would look at me and hope
Things would get right in order
For I will restore his glory and honor
I will make those melancholy eyes cope

There is a vision, but I cannot see it
It’s long since I had any hope
How can I rest in these hours lost
That hastens the pain of defeat every bit

Have you ever seen it, I asked
The bright eyes sparkling like spike of silver
Unrestrained when your soul takes a fly
When despair is taken away from morning breeze

Have you ever been called home?
By clear ringing sounds of trumpet
One day our paths shall lead us there
Desire and Hope shall float till that time.

Games People Play

All these years I have been your friend
Trust me as you once did, let it go
Frailty was crippling those thoughts
Yet I stayed put all the time to bow

The Rules and Ruses of the Game
Silence of the lambs so bleak
Say nay what you mean
Never mean what you speak

Laughing and half-smirking you see
Shrugging shoulders spew indifference
Mocking, the snide sign of disdain
Raised brows question reverence

Hallelujah! Seeking glory ad infinitum
Whiling away those precious hours
Sharpening the fancied tools of power
Whilst they lie in their ivory tower

Serenity helped us remember
Who am I, for what do I see?
Giving up your nascent sanity
Full of pride, a conceited soul to be

They say it will work out fine
The game is still on and pieces moving
You may not be expected to play it
But you are required to consider it
