Games People Play

All these years I have been your friend
Trust me as you once did, let it go
Frailty was crippling those thoughts
Yet I stayed put all the time to bow

The Rules and Ruses of the Game
Silence of the lambs so bleak
Say nay what you mean
Never mean what you speak

Laughing and half-smirking you see
Shrugging shoulders spew indifference
Mocking, the snide sign of disdain
Raised brows question reverence

Hallelujah! Seeking glory ad infinitum
Whiling away those precious hours
Sharpening the fancied tools of power
Whilst they lie in their ivory tower

Serenity helped us remember
Who am I, for what do I see?
Giving up your nascent sanity
Full of pride, a conceited soul to be

They say it will work out fine
The game is still on and pieces moving
You may not be expected to play it
But you are required to consider it

Broken rules or insanity, the game is bound to take a turn
With intricacy of a withering bond all shall have to play
Deeming is meek, for an honest player deserves above a sodden flame
Silence will speak with a whistle when the wind turns your way.

Not playful by nature but still games people surely play,
Not all games are 'zero sum games' as the theorists say.
Is there a game which can be played alone,
Unless you participate with the wind it is gone.
